I saw Pinch of Yum post a non-alcoholic margarita with something along these lines and I was instantly inspired! Cocktail making is definitely something I think people get intimidated by for no reason. It can be super fun to make your own creations! You have control over the whole process and don't have to pay the extra $$ for someone else to make it. While I LOVE going out for cocktails, it's fun to be able to make them at home whenever I want!
Prep:
-You could get the cilantro leaves, lime juice, sugar and water measured out and ready ahead of time but this recipe takes less than 10 minutes total
Tips:
-Make this your own! I've done a spicy rendition where I replace the cilantro and lime with serrano peppers and it's delicious
-Other flavor combinations that would be great: honey and ginger, lemon, cinnamon, and more! Just replace the cilantro and lime in this recipe with whatever flavor you choose
Leftovers:
-Store in an airtight container (I like a Weck or Mason jar- see links in the Shopping section) in the fridge. This will last about a month in the fridge - if you don't use it all by then!!
The recipe:
Cilantro Lime Simple Syrup
Prep time: Less than 5 minutes
Cook time: 5 minutes
For the Cilantro Lime Simple Syrup
1 1/2 cups of water
1 cup of white sugar

Add the sugar and whisk to dissolve the sugar completely
Add in the cilantro leaves and lime juice and lower the heat to low/medium low

Strain and let cool
Serve and enjoy in your favorite drink!
